Social Media Theme Settings

Connecting your social accounts helps customers trust your brand, see real content, and engage with you outside the store.

In this article, we’ll answer the most common questions Shopify merchants have about adding social media links in the theme.

❓ Where do I add my social media accounts?

Inside your theme settings, go to:

Theme settings → Social media

Here you’ll find input fields for each platform.
Simply paste your full profile URL (not just the username).

Supported platforms include:

  • X (Twitter)
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Instagram
  • TikTok
  • Tumblr
  • Snapchat
  • YouTube
  • Vimeo

💡 Tip
Always use the full link, like:

https://instagram.com/yourstore

Once you fill in the links, icons can appear in different places depending on your theme sections:

In our theme, you can easily display social icons in the footer to build trust, reinforce branding, and help customers connect with you across platforms.

✔ Header

Our theme also allows you to enable social icons in the header, giving visitors quicker access without leaving the shopping experience.

Each location has its own toggle inside the theme settings, so you stay fully in control of where icons appear.

❓ Do I need to enable icons separately?

Yes.

Adding links does not automatically display icons.

You must enable them inside the corresponding sections, for example:

  • Header → “Show social icons”
  • Footer → “Show social icons”

This gives you full control over where they appear.

❓ Can I hide some icons and keep others?

Yes — simply:

  • Leave the field empty for any platform you don’t want to show
  • Only filled links will display

No extra settings needed.

❓ Does adding social icons affect SEO?

Indirectly — yes (positively).

Social links help with:

  • brand trust
  • credibility
  • user engagement
  • signals that your business is real

But they do not replace backlinks or on-page SEO. They simply support your brand ecosystem.

⭐ Keep it simple

Only show platforms you actually use.

⭐ Use consistent branding

Same name, logo style, and tone across all platforms.

Broken links create bad user experience.

Summary

The Social Media settings allow you to:

✔ connect all your accounts
✔ choose where icons display (header or footer)
✔ control which platforms show
✔ improve brand trust and engagement

Add only the platforms that support your store strategy — not everything.
